  • Bible
  • Composition Notebook (for journals and notes)
  • Pencils, Pens, and highlighters
  • Optional: "How to Be Your Own Selfish Pig" booklet

Course Description: The Lightbearers Homeschool curriculum is designed to help high school students clearly understand the tenets of the Christian worldview, and how they compare to that of the leading humanistic worldviews of our day. Students will learn how to apply their Christian faith to every area of life: theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, sociology, psychology, law, politics, economics, and history.  Some of the issues covered include abortion, apologetics, cults, evolution, feminism, homosexuality, naturalism, moral relativism, pluralism, relationships, socialism, and many more!  By the end of this course, the student will become self-aware of their own personal worldview, as well as properly articulate all facets of their Christian faith.  They will be fully equipped to apologetically defend the truths of the Gospel, and battle against the vain, fruitless teachings of worldly philosophy.  The topics discussed are challenging, and the confidence in Christ they will gain is invaluable as we will all seek to cement our trust in Christ as the only solid foundation on which we stand.
**The 9th and 10th Grade Worldview course will contain a smaller workload than that given for the 11th and 12th grade class, and grading will be slightly more lenient as they are just starting to produce coursework at High School standard level. Nevertheless, I have the highest expectations of them, and will push them to grow!
Classroom Expectations
  • Students are to come in each day and get started on their journals.  Each of our 50 minutes together is short and precious, and no time should be wasted!
  • I hope to make this class as engaging and enlightening as possible, and I expect the students to bring their own enthusiasm to class as they participate in class discussions, as this will make up the majority of our time together.
  • Students will always maintain a respectful mindset towards the teacher, and the others around them as we will often be discussing heavy (and sometimes sensitive) topics

Schedule:  Each of our 10 UNITS will have:
  • Homework assignments
  • One writing assignment
  • One project or presentation (varied)
  • A Unit Test

Grading Scale

Stauffer: High School Musical Theatre Summerville
Grade: 9-12
Instructor: Jensen Stauffer/Jenny Stauffer
Email: stauff1@yahoo.com
Monthly Cost: $45
Materials Fee: $35
Required for parent to purchase: There will be a minimal fee to cover the cost of each actor’s costume. At show time, tickets will be $7. T-shirts will be an optional purchase.

Course Description: Do you enjoy acting, singing, and performing? Are you ready to take your skills to the next level as you prepare for high school? The High School Musical Theatre class is a performance based course in which students will spend the year preparing to produce a full-length Broadway musical (to be announced at a later date) while focusing on honing their performance skills and growing as actors. We will rehearse on Fridays from 11:00-3:00 at Northwood Baptist Church. Auditions will be required and will take place in August prior to the start of the semester. Each student must present a monologue as well as a song from a musical. Students must use accompaniment for their song.

Rehearsal time is valuable. Because it is our aim to produce a show of the highest caliber, the class will require commitment and participation from each student and parent. Please plan to be at every rehearsal, as every actor plays an important part in creating the whole show. Students and parents will be asked to sign a commitment form and join the official Facebook group for the class.

There will be extra Saturday rehearsals in the spring that will be mandatory. Performances will be in May 2023.

You MUST get special permission to register for musical theatre classes! Please email Jenny Stauffer at stauff1@yahoo.com for interest and questions. Registration information will be sent privately to those who get a slot. Don’t wait to contact us…these classes fill up quickly!

Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, we acknowledge there are now similar local programs available; we therefore need to emphasize the commitment level required for SHEEP’s year-long performance-based theatre group. Students and parents - whether junior, intermediate or high school - need to recognize and understand the requirement to refrain from committing to another non-SHEEP full-year performance-based theatre group. This keeps us all from scheduling conflicts in the spring, allows more students to participate in local homeschool theatre groups, and reflects our overall desire to have excellent theatre productions. We encourage each family to pray about participation and follow God’s leading in making this decision. Thank you for understanding. We are happy to answer any questions (stauff1@yahoo.com).
