Elective Classes
Kovanda: High School Biblical Worldview - Moncks Corner
Instructor: Jaime Kovanda
Email address: jkovanda@sheep.education
Google Classroom Code: mmo7tk7
Grades: 9-12
Monthly Cost: $35
Material Fee: $30
Pre-requisites: None
Supplies and Books required:
● Textbook “Lightbearers” by Summit Ministries - Biblical Worldview Curriculum
● Bible
● Reliable internet access
● Notebook/Paper, Pencils, Pens, and highlighters
Course Description: The Lightbearers Homeschool curriculum is designed to help high school
students clearly understand the tenets of the Christian worldview, and how they compare to that of the
leading humanistic worldviews of our day. Students will learn how to apply their Christian faith to every
area of life: theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, sociology, psychology, law, politics, economics, and
history. Some of the issues covered include abortion, apologetics, cults, evolution, feminism,
homosexuality, naturalism, moral relativism, pluralism, relationships, socialism, and many more! By the
end of this course, the student will become self-aware of their own personal worldview, as well as properly
articulate all facets of their Christian faith. They will be fully equipped to apologetically defend the truths of
the Gospel, and battle against the vain, fruitless teachings of worldly philosophy. The topics discussed are
challenging, and the confidence in Christ they will gain is invaluable as we will all seek to cement our trust
in Christ as the only solid foundation on which we stand.
Classroom Expectations
● Students should actively participate in class discussions and complete assignments to include
watching assigned videos via the link provided.
● Students must always maintain a respectful attitude toward everyone as we will often be
discussing heavy (and sometimes sensitive) topics
● Students will utilize the Google Classroom platform to retrieve, complete, and turn in
assignments.
Schedule: Because this is a high school level course, the goal of our time together is to participate in
rich, fruitful discussions that shape and cement our Biblical Worldview. With that, students are expected
to come to class ready to participate and contribute to the conversation. To do so, all homework
assignments should be completed on time. Our class can be measured “successful” by the understanding
gained more than the amount of material we forge through. Students will refine their abilities to think
broadly and deeply about worldviews and our Christian faith. It is my intention to accomplish as much of
the ten units as possible, however, foundational understanding and practical application is paramount. To
accomplish this, we will:
● Pray together
● Review discussion questions from the reading assignments
● Check completed homework
● Present and learn new material
● Discuss upcoming assignments / homework expectations
