Course Description: Do you enjoy acting, singing, and performing? The Junior Musical Theatre class is a performance based course in which students will spend the year preparing to produce The Sound of Music Youth Edition, a Broadway Junior Musical, while focusing on honing their performance skills and growing as actors. We will rehearse on Thursdays at the SHEEP Church of Christ 8:30-9:50 for the AM class or 1:10-2:30 for the PM class. Auditions will be required and will take place either before classes begin or on the first day of class. Each student must present a one minute monologue as well as a song from a musical.
Rehearsal time is valuable. Because it is our aim to produce a show of the highest caliber, the class will require commitment and participation from each student and parent. In the spring, rehearsals will be moved to the performance venue. Please plan to be at every rehearsal as every actor plays an important part in creating the whole show. Parents will be asked to join the official Facebook group for the class.
There will be extra Saturday rehearsals in the spring that will be mandatory. Performances will be in April 2023.
