Prerequisites: Reading and writing at a 3rd grade level or higher. A basic understanding of English grammar is necessary, as we will be learning Spanish grammar.

Course Descriptions: This introductory Spanish course, designed for older elementary students, will provide a fun and interactive experience for a student’s initial phases of exposure to the Spanish language. Basic vocabulary concepts will be taught, in conjunction with comprehension, pronunciation, basic phonics and grammar, as well as reading and writing sentences. Songs, games, hands-on-activities, and worksheets will be used to enhance the learning experience. Students will be introduced to Spanish-speaking countries and cultures. A weekly homework assignment will be sent home. These assignments are meant to support the learning process and to facilitate further practice. Homework will be collected and graded each week. Records of grades will be maintained, but solely for informational purposes and to allow parents the opportunity for feedback on their student’s progress if desired. Students will earn credits for completing homework that can be used twice a year in a class auction. All teaching communication will be a fully bilingual immersive experience, where all instruction will be provided in both Spanish and English. Students will be strongly encouraged to communicate in Spanish. I have attended a private university in Mexico and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish Language & Literature. My time spent living in Mexico, as well as mission trips to both Mexico and Honduras, have all increased my fluency and understanding of Latin American cultures. I am excited to instill a love for the Spanish language and for Spanish-speaking cultures.
