Research conducted by Harvard University and Stanford Research Center has all concluded that 85% of job success comes from having well‐developed soft skills and people skills, and only 15% of job success comes from technical skills and Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition knowledge (hard skills).
In the 1st Semester of this class, we will help these young adults work on the skills that will help them succeed in life. This class will cover a variety of topics such as: people skills, job interview skills, priorities, and the basics of good communication. We will be going over information from books, including: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, How to be a Great Communicator, Now Discover Your Strengths, Proverbs, How To Win Friends and Influence People.
The 2nd semester we will be going through Dave Ramsey’s course Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition. A bill is in the works that would require a Personal Finance .5 credit in future years. This will not only set your child up to succeed with handling money, but also fulfil that requirement.
This class will be Pass/Fail format and will be based on homework completion and on class participation.
