Supplies and Books Required: Students will need a copy of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and The Perfect English Grammar Workbook: Simple Rules and Quizzes to Master Today’s English (ISBN-13: 978-1623157968)

No book substitutions allowed

Students will need a 3-ring binder with loose leaf paper, pencils, and a blue or black ink pen.


Course Description: Equivalent of 9th grade high school English credit (though advanced 8th grade students are permitted). This class will focus on parts of speech, grammar and vocabulary, formal writing, reading comprehension, and research methods. We will cover fiction and nonfiction, poetry, drama, short stories, and novels. In addition to writing assignments and a final project we will watch Pygmalion (1938) and clips from multiple productions of Much Ado About Nothing.
