Advanced Cooking will be a continuation of skills learned in Intro to Cooking. Through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on experience, students will learn to work with and prepare various foods and recipes. The class will gradually move into independent group labs requiring more focus and attention. More attention will be paid to skill level and accuracy in the class and at home.
Students will continue to learn:
hygiene and kitchen safety, kitchen equipment and appliances use, techniques and skills, and team communication
Our class size is going to be limited to 12 students who really have a desire to learn and hone in on their skills in the kitchen, work well with others and can stay focused on tasks at hand. It is imperative that students are able to work independently and in a group in the classroom and at home.
High School Credit: .5 credit; Syllabus given first day of class
Prior to the class start, and throughout the year, students will have video assignments and homework to complete at home. Students will be given weekly assignments that will require 1 to 2 hours of homework - mainly in the kitchen. Grade will be based on professionalism, attendance, class tasks and homework. We will utilize Google Classroom for class communication and turning in of assignments. All students (and parents if they choose) will have to join.
NOTE: This class CANNOT accommodate food allergies. Please contact instructor at Dawn@sheep.education to be placed on a waitlist.
