Course Description: In this course we will use the Abeka “Community Helpers” curriculum to teach your child about the helpers in their community, what their jobs are and how they help. Students will be introduced to community helpers such as pastors, teachers, firefighters, police officers, and medical workers. Students will learn community and home safety such as what road signs mean, how to make a 911 call, and what to do if they find themself in an emergency. Learning how our community helpers serve our community will create a deeper appreciation for those God has put in our lives to serve us and also give students ideas of what they might want to be when they grow up. In this course we will complete workbook pages, read and listen to stories about community helpers, and pray for the helpers in our own community. At the end of the course we will have a community helper day where the kids can dress up as a community helper of their choice and share with the class what makes the helper they chose important to our community.
