Course Description: Mid/Hi chorus is a class designed to help students fall in love with music while learning to sing in a group setting. We will learn the basics of vocal technique, such as proper breath control, support and posture, Italian vowels and open tone. Our goals will be to develop a habit of good vocal techniques, learning to follow the music, singing in parts as well as using dynamics and phrasing well. We will explore songs in foreign languages, classic pieces transcribed for students, sacred pieces and contemporary pieces. Students will also learn to work as a team, listening to each other vocally as they all sing. In Choral Society, our goal is to honor the Lord through singing. We will learn and work on singing techniques during our warm-up time then apply those to each piece we learn. We will learn pieces each semester with the goal of singing in the end of semester performances.
