About SHEEP Musical Theatre

Summerville Homeschool Education Enrichment Program (SHEEP) was founded in 2008 to support homeschool families by offering a variety of enrichment classes that enhance both academic and creative learning.

In 2010, SHEEP Musical Theatre began with just eight students in a single performance-based class. What started small has since grown into a vibrant program serving more than 200 students across six classes.

Each spring, our students take the stage in a series of exciting musical productions. The Elementary class performs a “Kids” musical; the Junior class presents a “Junior” production; the Intermediate group performs either a one-act musical or a Junior production with live orchestration; and our High School students cap off the season with a full-length Broadway musical, complete with live orchestration.

Through these experiences, SHEEP Musical Theatre provides students with high-quality performing arts education, teamwork opportunities, and the joy of bringing stories to life on stage.

Registration opens in early Spring. Acceptance letters are emailed out with a link to Priority Seating. Space is limited in each class and there is usually a wait list. Classes meet one day a week and additional rehearsals throughout the year. Participation in the classes is only available to homeschooled students.

For Intermediate, and High School classes, auditions are held in August, before classes start. For the Elementary and Junior classes, auditions are held during class time. Auditions are mandatory for each student.

After casting, class time is spent working on music, choreography, and blocking. Students are expected to study music and lines at home. Extra rehearsals move to the performance venue in the spring; at that point, costumes, props, and (for Intermediate and High School classes) live music are incorporated.

Performing in a musical is a privilege, a huge time commitment, and a big responsibility. We expect students to be dedicated, hard-working, have an outstanding attitude, and be a team player who will positively represent SHEEP and Musical Theatre. This class requires serious commitment from both the parents and the actor. We take this commitment very seriously; we expect 100% commitment regardless of the role in which your student is cast. Please do not view this class as just another activity. Parents and students are required to sign a commitment form before registering for this program.
